How to use Story Telling in Sales.

My goal in this article is to share with you my top 5 secrets to using story-telling inside your sales conversations, hope it helps you!

  1. Find a personal connection

We all love a good story, and one of the best ways to connect with someone is to find a personal connection with them. When you can share a story that is relatable to the person you are trying to sell to, they are much more likely to be interested in what you have to say.

What do you have in common with your prospect? Find out through smart questions and then share a brief story on one of the subjects.

2. Make it relatable

When you are sharing a story, make sure that it is relatable to the person you are trying to sell to. If you can find a way to connect the story to their life, they will be much more interested in what you have to say.

Be sure you don’t start a story just to tell a story; it has to be relevant to the conversation and relatable.

3. Be genuine

People can tell when you are being genuine and when you are not. If you are not genuine, people will see right through you and they will not be interested in what you have to say.

Don’t try to use stories to sell… Simply use stories to share, to connect and to understand the other human better.

4. Use emotion

Stories are a great way to evoke emotion in people. When you can make someone feel something, they are much more likely to be interested in what you have to say.

It doesn’t have to be a soap opera but it does have to make people feel.

5. Be specific

When you are telling a story, be as specific as possible. This will help the person you are selling to connect with the story and they will be much more likely to be interested in what you have to say.

Sales representatives and entrepreneurs should also be careful to avoid sounding like they are reading from a script. No one wants to feel like they are being sold to, so it is important to sound natural. Telling a story is a great way to build rapport and make a connection with potential customers.

Start by understanding your audience. What are their needs and wants? What are their pain points? When you know your audience, you can craft a story that will resonate with them.

Next, identify the key points you want to communicate. What is the takeaway you want your prospect to remember? Keep this in mind as you craft your story or stories.

Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end. It should be cohesive and make sense.

Finally, practice telling your story. This will help you to sound natural and avoid reading from a script.

Keep these tips in mind to make the most of this powerful tool.
